Over the years, Wakeside Design Studio has become a voice for boat owners feedback. By combining customers ideas with Wakeside Design Studios creative innovation, a few ideas turned into a very specific challenge: create the best wakeboard tower speaker system ever made for both the riders in the boat and the one 85 feet back. To meet this challenge, Wakeside Design Studio took their conceptual idea to Skylon, the leading wakeboard tower speaker system manufacturer, because of their proven track record with the Deafcon line. Wakeside Design Studio then recommended that Skylon team up with Image Dynamics, one of the top professional audio component manufacturers. Image Dynamics specializes in HLCD horns and high-end sub-woofers. Once the concept and objective was clear and the team was formed, Wakeside Design Studio stepped out of the way and let the engineers from Skylon and Image Dynamics collaborate to develop the all new Deafcon Reference Series. The result is not merely an improvement on current wakeboarding speakers; its a complete redefinition.
The Skylon Deafcon Reference series achieves three goals, all of which set it far apart from other tower speakers. The primary goal was to achieve very loud and crystal-clear sound quality both in the boat and for the rider. The second goal was to create a new look along with perfect fit and finish and great styling. The third goal was to reduce the weight of the tower speaker system to minimize tower flex and to make collapsing the tower an easier job. Skylon and Image Dynamics engineers were not only able to accomplish all three goals, but ended up with a sound system far above and beyond all expectations.
The redefinition of sound quality for the rider comes from the mids and highs generated by the Image Dynamics HLCD (horns) featured on the Deafcon IV and V Reference. Backing it up are beefy Image Dynamics professional 8" mid-bass drivers. Like a concert or outdoor venue, horn-based technology projects the full spectrum of music out to the rider. Non-HLCD conventional tweeters simply cannot perform well at 85 feet, as most of the sound waves disperse and never reach the rider.
The entire Skylon Deafcon Reference series features new ultra-lightweight composite enclosures finished in gloss black or Carbon Fiber (optional) and a polished billet aluminum front plate.
